Olaniyi Olaleye is a Program Officer with the International Budget Partnership, a Washington DC-based Research and Advocacy Policy Centre. Prior to joining the centre in 2021, Olaniyi was a Senior Research Associate for 4 years at BudgIT Foundation.
Olaniyi has written and co-published technical papers on budgeting, budget credibility, sub-national transparency and inequality. He has managed core governance programs supporting National and International Development Partners such as Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, British Council, OXFAM, OSIWA, UNICEF, International Budget Partnership, Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung, World Bank, Ford Foundation, Luminate, and McArthur Foundation. His interest includes unearthing underlying public finance management and governance issues in the social sectors and providing detailed insights into government revenue, debt and expenditure patterns at the National and Subnational levels. He has led a series of campaigns to improve fiscal transparency and accountability in Nigeria.
Olaniyi is a Masters graduate of International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos, Nigeria. He also earned a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in History and International Relations from the Obafemi Awolowo University. Ile-Ife, Nigeria.
